Nationwide activities scheduled in response to World Environment Day 2017

(TITC) –In response to World Environment Day (June 5), the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) in collaboration with other ministries, state agencies, authorities of cities and provinces will organize “Action Month for the Environment”.
 
Launched by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and organized in Viet Nam since 1982, a series of activities in response to World Environment Day have become a nationwide movement, contributing to the improvement of awareness of environment and biodiversity protection, sustainable development and adaptation to climate change.

‘Connecting People to Nature’, the theme for World Environment Day 2017, implores us to get outdoors and into nature, to appreciate its beauty and its importance, and to take forward the call to protect the Earth that we share.

According to the plan, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province was chosen as the venue for the launching ceremony of “Action Month for the Environment” due on June 4, 2017.

On the occasion, BRVT also will organize many other activities including workshop on “The role of Vietnamese women in the protection of nature resources and environment”; environment training classes for junior students; trees planting; conference on “Policy dialogue on environment and sustainable development” in the South; training course on “The effects of outdoor combustion on the environment and human health”.

Nationwide, MONRE will also co-organized such events as “International Fair for Environmental Technology and Products” in Ho Chi Minh City; activities in response to the International Day for Biodiversity 2017 in Quang Ninh Province; discussion on “The role of the Viet Nam Fartherland Front, social organizations and social professional organizations in advocacy for community participation in environmental protection” in the North; launching of the photo contest for environment protection in Ha Noi; training on state management of environment protection in Central Highlands in Lam Dong Province…
