Hue Cultural Museum showcases traditional weddings

From November 30, 2017 to February 28, 2018, the public will have a chance to contemplate ancient images and keepsakes in traditional weddings at the showroom with the theme “ Hue traditional weddings” opened by Hue Cultural Museum this morning ( November 30).

A recreation of Hue traditional wedding rituals

The showroom introduces basic rituals of a Hue traditional wedding, images, and documents of the weddings of Hue people in the 60s and the 70s.

The original artifacts such as wedding invitations, marriage certificates, the wedding ao dai, a tray of areca, betel and wine, old conventions, and some pictures recreating the bridal procession, the altar, the to hong rite (lit. the rite of marriage threads), etc.  give the public an interesting insight into the unique features of Hue traditional culture.

Showcased original artifacts including wedding costumes, a tray for areca, betel, and wine, a wedding bed, etc.

Ms. Nguyen Hong Hoa Tranh, Director of Hue Cultural Museum said: “These images and keepsakes aim at introducing traditional values of Hue folk wedding, helping the public understand more about the simple, special beauties in the marriage custom of the people in the ancient capital, contributing to the preservation and promotion of the Hue cultural values, and to the building of a civilized lifestyle in the marriage in accordance with the good traditions of the nation."
