Bac Giang focuses resources on developing tourist sites

With the goal of turning tourism into an important economic sector that accounts for a high proportion in the economic structure, in recent years, localities and businesses in Bac Giang province have been focusing on investing in the construction of tourist areas.

Building many new facilities

The Tay Yen Tu spiritual-ecological tourism area is being built in Tuan Mau commune (Son Dong district) with a total investment of about 1.5 trillion VND (64.6 million USD). It is divided into three phases (from 2016-2021).

Tay Yen Tu spiritual and ecological tourism area (Son Dong district) is an attractive destination for tourists inside and outside the province.

Currently, the business is building a number of new facilities which are expected to be completed by the end of this year such as a restaurant system capable of serving 500 guests and Tu Dai garden built under the structure of a water tower. In 2020, hotels, a visitor center, shopping and entertainment areas and landscape lakes will be constructed at a cost of about 500 billion VND (21.5 million USD).

In Luc Nam district, a 20 billion VND (860,640 USD) project to upgrade and repair the Ha (Lower) temple and building a theater in the Suoi Mo ecological tourism area was completed in early 2019, creating an attractive destination for tourists.

Nguyen Quang Tan, Director of Luc Nam district’s Project Management Unit, said that the project to build Suoi Mo ecological tourism area infrastructure for the 2016-2020 period has a total investment of more than 80 billion VND (3.44 million USD) sourced from the central budget. The project, now in the stage of site clearance, will focus on building roads leading to temples.

Implementing the resolutions, programmes and plans of the Government and the province, especially Resolution No. 44-NQ /TU dated March 30, 2016 of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee on tourism development in Bac Giang province in 2016 - 2020, over the past years, the province’s tourism development has been implemented synchronously and drastically.

In 2018, the provincial People's Committee granted decisions approving investment plans, investment registration certificates and memoranda of understanding to 10 enterprises with a total investment of more than 35 trillion VND (1.5 billion USD).

Since the beginning of 2019, the provincial People's Committee has directed the specialized agencies to make, appraise and approve detailed planning schemes of five projects. A series of projects to build, expand and upgrade roads leading to tourist areas and destinations have been underway.

Actively promoting tourist sites to attract projects

In parallel with infrastructure construction investment, the provincial People's Committee has directed relevant departments and localities to actively promote tourist areas and destinations through provincial- and central-level press agencies and websites of agencies, districts and city; fanpages on social networks; panels, banners and slogans; leaflets, publications, cultural and sport events in order to attract a large number of tourists from all walks of life.

It can be said that the construction, investment and promotion of tourism in the province have been carried out actively and synchronously. Facilities serving tourism development have been improved, creating a new face for Bac Giang tourism.

Tran Van Dung, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that in the coming time, the unit will continue to coordinate with relevant departments to advise the provincial People's Committee to direct localities and competent agencies to support investors, especially in site clearance, in order to effectively implement tourism development projects approved by the provincial People's Committee.

The department will actively invite investors and attract projects as well as build, upgrade and repair transport infrastructure, while strengthening human resources training, promoting tourist sites and applying smart tourism technologies, striving to meet the target of welcoming 3 million tourists to Bac Giang province by 2020. This helps make tourism an important economic sector that creates more jobs, increases incomes and boosts local socio-economic development.
