Moc Chau Plateau - a tourist highlight in the Northwest

(TITC) - Moc Chau Plateau locates in Son La Province, and by the side of majestic Hoang Lien Son Range in the Northwestern Mountainous Region.

Moc Chau was formerly known as Muong Sang, the old name was Muong Mok, and in Thai language, it means frosty land all year round. It is the characteristics of climate, topography and geology that make Moc Chau's unique beauty. Thanks the fresh air, cool temperature with average of 20ºC and the interesting natural landscapes, Moc Chau Plateau is an attractive place with diversified types of tourism.  

Moc Chau Plateau has a surface stretching 80 km long and the width of 25 km. It is far about 180 km from Ha Noi Capital, and 120 km from Son La City. From Ha Noi, following the National Highway 6, going through Hoa Binh City, crossing Cun pass, Moi pass, Thung Khe Pass, then pass 46, reaching a height of 1,000 meters, Moc Chau appears, stretching of immense grass-fields and tea hills. If traveling by the plane through this region, visitors have opportunity to admire that strip of green land divided into lots like the chess boards, and on the side is the large reservoir of Da River hydroelectricity. 

The land of Moc Chau is suitable for grass-fields for animal husbandry, tea cultivation, and other agriculture. Moc Chau tea factory was set up here to produce tea products for export and for domestic consumption. Thousands of pure-bred and crossbred cows from the Netherlands are raised in the Moc Chau farm, has operated since 1958. Now Moc Chau milk becomes a famous brand in Viet Nam.

Moc Chau contains several fascinating sites, and also homes some ethnic groups preserving its own unique culture. Vat Village of Thai people with the oldest history in Moc Chau, and is about 5km from Moc Chau Town - centre of Moc Chau Plateau. Ang Village where Thai people inhabit is about more than 2km south of Moc Chau Town. There are two lakes nearby a pine forest stretching in a red brown feralit hill. Son Moc Huong Cave (or Bat Cave because there are many bat nests in its arch) is about 300m northwest of Moc Chau Town. As a typical karst limestone cave at a height of approximately 100m above sea level, the cave has an area of about 6,915m², with a length of 80m, a height of 20m and a width of 25m. Dai Yem (Pink Blouse) Waterfall also called Nang (Girl) Waterfall is about 5km from Moc Chau Town and almost 1km from Vat Village. Dai Yem is made up of two streams of Bo Co Lam and Bo Ta Chap flowing from a rock cave at the top of Vat village, pouring water into Bo Sap stream forming a majestic waterfall.

Coming to Moc Chau, visitors should visit the Dai Yem waterfall eco-tourism area managed by Pha Luong - Moc Chau Tourism Joint Stock Company. Here Tinh Yeu (Love) Grass Bridge has been constructed and operated since 2019. It is the first glass bridge in Viet Nam and considered as a highlight in Moc Chau Plateau.

The bridge is made of iron and steel with the length of 80m and width of 2m; the glass surface is made of bulletproof glass to ensure durability and safety for visitors while walking on. Tinh Yeu Glass Bridge is uniquely and impressively designed in suspension style, one of the features of bridges crossing rivers and streams in the mountains and forests. The bridge is constructed with the world's most modern 5D glass technology; its surface is a led screen with 30 different effects such as heart-shaped effect, blooming flowers, fish swimming, and cracking... The bridge is called the Love (Tinh Yeu) Bridge because it is designed with love symbol and the main colors are red and yellow showing the intense vitality. 

The glass bridge can accommodate about 70 people at a time. Standing on the bridge, visitors can contemplate Dai Yem Waterfall, the beauty of the mountains and the canola fields, the valley of white plum blossoms, green tea hills, and experiencing adventurous feeling.

The Tinh Yeu Glass Bridge is set 3 records in Viet Nam including: The bridge pier has the largest lotus-shape in Viet Nam; the largest grafted heart-shaped cluster in Viet Nam (made of steel); the largest scrapbook in Viet Nam. 

Moc Chau attracts visitors to explore cultural and natural tourism, experience community-based tourism, and agritourism.
