In early of June, Politburo has agreed to trial vaccine passports for international visitors to selected tourist destinations, such as Phu Quoc (Kien Giang province). This is an opportunity for international tourism recovery but it also highly required to meet ensure safety and COVID-19 prevention.

In late of 2020, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has built international tourism reopening plan. Tourism Information Technology Center (TITC) also cooperated with relevant units to research and built system of COVID-19 vaccine certificate at https://travelpass.tourism.vn to prepare for international tourist reopening.

In principle, international visitors before entering Viet Nam are required to prove that they have been Covid-19 vaccinated. With the certification system, visitors will declare personal information, vaccination records and related medical information. These data will be interconnected with the authorities in charge of information, communication, health, immigration, traffic... and will be verified for legality and validity according to Viet Nam's regulations and international standards.

The system is connected with the diplomatic missions of Viet Nam abroad. This is an important clue to verify documents of international visitors, including checking whether the visitor's vaccination certificate is legal in the host country.
