With an investment of over 500 billion VND (approximately $20 million), the newly constructed Da Nang Museum is nearing completion after four years of development.
Expected to become a major cultural and historical attraction, the museum promises to offer an enriching experience for both locals and tourists.
Located at 42-44 Bach Dang Street and 31 Tran Phu Street (Hai Chau District), the new museum spans 8,600 square meters. It features a three-story exhibition building with a basement, integrated infrastructure, and landscaped green spaces connecting to the historic Doc Ly building.
This French-built structure, over 120 years old, has served various roles throughout history, including as the City Hall and headquarters for the People's Committee and City Council.
A modern cultural landmark
The museum will feature several main exhibition areas, including: Permanent exhibitions, Natural history and human history of Da Nang, The city's urban development history, Cultural heritage collections
Currently, the museum is showcasing thousands of historical artifacts and documents, blending traditional displays with advanced digital presentation technology.
The new Da Nang Museum is designed to be a modern, technology-driven institution, incorporating digital advancements into its operations. Highlights include: LED panels and automated film projection systems, Motion-sensor interactive displays, 3D technology for immersive experiences
These innovations will enhance visitor engagement, making history and culture more accessible and interactive.
Preserving and promoting cultural heritage
With expanded exhibition space and upgraded facilities, the Da Nang Museum will play a vital role in collecting, preserving, and promoting the city's historical and cultural values. It aims to educate, inspire research, and serve as a cultural hub for learning and tourism.
The new museum building features a basement, three floors, elevators, and escalators, ensuring accessibility for all visitors. Additionally, the museum grounds include lush green spaces that enhance its architectural charm.
According to Huynh Dinh Quoc Thien, Director of Da Nang Museum, the museum is nearly complete, with only a few minor sections still under construction. The official grand opening is set for March 29, 2025.
