Ha Long bay_ the natural heritage of the world has been preserving and developing its values to boost sustainable tourism.
To enhance and diversify tourist services, the Quang Ninh province identified areas having high values of natural landscapes, geology, and geomorphology, established database on marine and islands resource and prepared solutions for oil spill problems at the heritage area of Ha Long bay.
The provincial authorities have been paying much attention to upgrade facilities, equipments to secure all activities of tourists and cruise ships at destinations such as: Thien Cung, Dau Go, Sung Sot, Ti Top, Me Cung grottoes, Cuu Van floating cultural center...
Many intangible cultural heritages include folk-songs, Ba Men festival, Thuy Co fishing-village traditional festival ... have been gradually restored to attract tourists.
Eco-environment protection activities are also managed strictly. The province asked Vietnam national coal-mineral industries Group to give best solutions to treat solid-waste, waste-water of their coal mines and plant trees to refresh environment; investors of beach projects must build embankments, dredge mud to avoid the sedimentation...
In addition, there are inspections aiming to urgently prevent violations which affect directly natural landscapes, eco-systems, water quality of Ha Long Bay such as waste-water discharge exceeds standards, rock destruction, cutting trees, coral exploitation...
Thanks to due management and strict protection of relevant agencies, Ha Long Bay welcomed millions of visitors every year. During the first 6 month of 2011, the province has welcomed more than 4 million tourists and earned VND 1,977 billion in tourism revenue, a year-on-year rise of 7 percent.
