Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has just approved an online workshop on cooperation promotion between Khanh Hoa and Saint Petersburg, Russia suggested by Khanh Hoa Department of Foreign Affairs. Accordingly, Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has assigned the Department of Foreign Affairs to contact the Saint Petersburg Committee for Foreign Relations and agencies to reach agreements on related contents; the Department of Tourism, the Department of Health, the Department of Planning and Investment, and the Management Board of Van Phong Economic Zone to prepare presentations on cooperation potentials and opportunities; the Department of Information and Communications, and the Provincial Public Security to ensure stable and smooth data transmission, security and safety for the workshop.
Khanh Hoa has received a large number of Russian tourists in recent years. In 2019, before the Covid-19 epidemic, Khanh Hoa welcomed more than 463,000 Russian visitors (ranked 2nd among Khanh Hoa's total international tourist arrivals). The Covid-19 epidemic has brought the international tourism to a halt since the beginning of 2020. The workshop promises to help further promote Russian tourism market; develop stimulus programs to attract Russian tourists to Khanh Hoa when the Covid-19 epidemic is under control, according to Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism.
