(TITC) - On December 4, the Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Tourism and the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association held the opening ceremony of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival 2021 with the theme "Safe destination, Lively journey".
This is the first time the festival used technology application in order to improve experiences for visitors, flexibly adapting to the Covid-19 pandemic.
At the opening ceremony, Ms. Phan Thi Thang - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee shared that in the context of being heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the municipal tourism industry has quickly transformed to a safe, flexible adaptation and effective control of the pandemic, enhanced digital transformation, and organized many tourism activities in online platforms.
She also asked the municipal tourism industry focus on domestic tourism as a key in tourism recovery, connecting surround province/cities to develop safe tourist routes, coordinating with tourism associations and businesses in building special tourism products and affiliate programs, promoting tourism investment, and supporting the connection between businesses and province/cities.
Giving online speech, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism highly appreciated the efforts of the Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism industry to create tourism products in green areas. The successful organization of this festival is an experience in deploying technology and digital platforms, introducing Ho Chi Minh City – safe destination.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh said that as soon as the pandemic was under control, Ho Chi Minh City has quickly implemented solutions to revive the economy, reorganize manufacturing industries, and reconnect supply chains. Tourism sector also has been early reopened. The 17th Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival was organized in the form of onsite and online platforms with the participation of more than 100 large enterprises, destinations, management agencies, local tourism promotion agencies, representative offices, international organizations. A series of events also will be held to stimulate the tourism demand.
Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh assessed that Ho Chi Minh City is the largest tourist center of the country, one of the tourist hubs for both international and domestic tourists. Ho Chi Minh City tourism plays an important role in stimulating tourism of neighboring provinces/cities in the Southeast and the Mekong Delta regions.
Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has also proposed to the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on a pilot plan to welcome international tourists in second phase. In which, the safety factor will be put on top from safety at the route, safety in the service chain, safety in the tour operator and in the pandemic control.
The 17th Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival will be organized onsite on 4-5 December and on online platforms until the end of December 25, 2021.
Also during this time, there will be a Promotion Month coorganized by the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Tourism and the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City.
