(TITC) - In response to the launch programme of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) on the organisation of response activities for International Day for Biological Diversity 2022, on 12th May 2022, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) sending out a Document to Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, in which requesting the integration of biodiversity conservation in the tourism system planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045; to News agencies, magazines and Information centres under the Ministry to organise propaganda and launching campaigns with the theme “Building a shared future for all life”.
The activities will be held to continue building momentum and support for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework to be adopted at the upcoming UN Biodiversity Conference #COP15 at the end of this year; At the same time, level up the significance of acting together in building a shared future, apply natural based solutions to climate change, health issues, food security, towards the global goal by 2050 of “living in harmony with nature”.
In response to the International Day for Biological Diversity 2022 (will be organised on 22nd May annually), according to the guidance of the MONRE, agencies and units are interested in and coordinate to organise the following contents:
Strengthen propaganda and communication on the role and importance of biodiversity; models and solutions for rational and efficient use of natural resources and biodiversity conservation; the participations of the community in conserving, recovering, and sustainable use of biodiversity and natural heritage; promote sustainable and responsible consumption, say no to products derived from wildlife and single-use plastics.
Integrating biodiversity conservation into master plans, strategies and plans of economic sectors that have a great impact on biodiversity such as agriculture, forestry, fishery, tourism, transport, and renewable and regenerate energy development; management and use of land resources, especially conservation areas, should be prioritised in national, regional and provincial plans.
Strengthen carrying out the task of conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity as prescribed in the Law on Environmental Protection in 2020, Decree No. 08/2022/ND-CP dated 10th January 2022 on elaboration of several Articles of the Law on Environmental Protection, Decision No. 149/QD-TTg dated 28th January 2022 on Approving the national strategy for biodiversity until 2030 and vision to 2050.
Strengthen activities to control wildlife trade, exploit migratory wildlife species in Directive No. 29/CT-TTg dated 23rd July 2020 of the Prime Minister on a number of urgent solutions for wildlife management and other related directive documents. Controlling impacts on biodiversity such as conversion of land and water surface purposes; unsustainable farming and exploitation methods; Invasive intruder organisms and activities that pollute the environment…
Action oriented and fitting within the context of the ongoing United Nations Decade on Restoration, in which develop a green, circular economy, preserving traditional knowledge, indigenous plant varieties and livestock according to the recommendations and guidelines of the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD).
Building and developing biodiversity database, digitisation of natural heritage management are interested in promoting, towards digitising the management and conservation of nature and biodiversity, in line with the e-Government in the natural resources and environment sectors. Implementing solutions to recover the ecosystem; establish and strengthen the information system on biodiversity, strengthen the application of information technology to connect with localities and each natural heritage region, develop and implement digital transformation projects, empower ability; technical infrastructure, equipment, tools and conduct survey, inventory, monitoring, report making, and build and operate a biodiversity database.
