On March 26, 2022, within the chain of activities to reduce tourist plastic waste in Con Dao, towards sustainable development, the International Organization for Conservation of Nature in Vietnam (WWF Vietnam) and the People's Committee Con Dao district held a commitment signing ceremony "Con Dao – A destination of plastic reduction".

The campaign "Con Dao – A destination of plastic reduction" is implemented with funding from the "Reduce plastic waste" project, with the goal of reducing 30% of plastic waste released into the environment by 2025 and recording its name as the 9th locality in Vietnam to participate in WWF's Global Plastic Reduction Cities Program.
From March 21 to March 27, the District People's Committee in collaboration with WWF Vietnam launched a series of activities to reduce plastic waste in tourism in Con Dao with the message "Come without plastic, leave love"; organized plastic reduction week; exhibited "Plastic sea tourism" combined with "Garbage exchange festival for gifts"; distributed plastic reduction handbooks when traveling to Con Dao for tourists...
Receiving enthusiastic responses from people and visitors, continuing the series of events in the program" Con Dao - A destination of plastic reduction", WWF Vietnam has coordinated with the Management Board of Con Dao National Park, Con Dao Resort Co., Ltd., and other organizations and individuals to organize the program "Walking combined garbage collection on eco-tourism routes in Con Dao National Park ” in response to World Environment Day.
Ocean garbage at Hon Ba
On the morning of June 5, 2022, with the participation of more than 100 union members, youth, cadres, soldiers, and locals, they went to environmental sanitation along the coast at Hon Ba, collecting and disposing of hundreds of kilograms of waste, cleaning the environment in Hon Ba beach area. Before the start, each person was fully equipped with tools from gloves, masks, tongs, garbage bags to ensure the safest and most convenient picking up and collecting garbage. Everyone is very excited, energetic and enthusiastic about cleaning the surrounding environment.
Garbage after being collected is gathered in one place for the boat to transport to the main island for disposal. Collecting trash to protect the environment is small work but it brings great significance, helps keep the living environment clean and fresh, raises the awareness of people to put garbage in the right place, joins hands to protect the living environment. This is meaningful work that needs to be replicated. The purpose of the garbage collection session is to propagate awareness to people and raise awareness of environmental protection in the local community. Although this is the first time, it has attracted the attention of volunteers in the district. Hopefully, this will contribute to a positive change in people's perception of environmental protection.
