(TITC) – Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) has just release document to call media departments under MOCST to organized ativities in responding to World Water Day, World Meteorological Day, and Earth Hour 2023.
Specifically, MOCST requires to increase the number of news, articles and images to raise awareness about water resources, weather, climate, and climate change adaptation, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, saving energy, conserving biodiversity, contributing to promoting socio-economic development on electronic media and publications.
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, World Water Day – 22th March, 2023 was launched by the United Nations ̣ with the theme "Accelerating Change" emphasizing the role of water as the foundation for all aspects of life and is the core of sustainable development in each country. At the same time, it aims to solve the global water and sanitation crisis. Thereby, calling on the community to jointly implement action programs to protect water resources to make a difference by changing the way water is used, consumed and managed in daily life.
World Meteorological Day on 23th March 2023 was launched by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) under the theme "The Future of Weather, Climate and Water across Generations". This message affirms the value of information, weather, climate and water resources to society and calls for the responsibility of each individual in the world to show their roles and responsibilities for present and future in order to proactively adapt to climate change and minimize the impact of environmental degradation.
This is also an opportunity to honor the contributions of hydrometeorological agencies around the world to the protection of human life and property against the impacts of natural disasters and climate change.
Launching by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Earth Hour 2023: “The Biggest Hour for Earth” on 25th March, 2023 emphasizes that this is the time when we need to change, push harder to ensure the global goals on biodiversity. To make this happen, individuals, communities, businesses, and governments must all urgently step up their efforts to protect and restore our one home.
This is a prerequisite for promoting health, rich diversity of species, populations and ecosystems. At the same time, it is time to realize Vietnam's goals at the 27th United Nations Climate Change Summit (COP27), use energy sustainably and look to the future with 100 % recycled energy.
Practically responding to the Earth Hour 2023, agencies, organizations and individuals jointly the action of "turning off the lights and unnecessary electrical equipment" from 20:30 to 21:30 on 25th March, 2023 (Saturday).
