A ceremony was held by the Vinh Long Provincial Department of Trade and Industry, the Provincial Ceramics and Tile Association, and the Provincial Association of Literature and Arts, to officially open a red ceramic street, within the framework of the Vietnam Agricultural Festival 2023.

The project aims to celebrate the 110th birthday anniversary of Professor, Academician, Labour Hero, Major General Tran Dai Nghia (September 13, 1913-2023). This is also an opportunity to promote the red ceramic products of Vinh Long Province.

The setup is on a street connecting Pham Hung Street with Vo Van Kiet Street in Ward 9 of Vinh Long City, showcasing nearly 2,500 ceramic products by 16 businesses throughout the province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh said, that in the 1980s, the whole province had nearly 3,000 brick kilns, stretching nearly 30km in the two districts of Long Ho and Mang Thit.

In particular, ceramic products of Vinh Long Province have been exported to various markets including the EU, the US, Australia, Taiwan (China), Hong Kong (China), the Republic of Korea and Japan.
Since 2010, brick kilns have encountered many difficulties, so their scale and operating capacity are no longer as large as before. According to statistics, Vinh Long now has more than 20 ceramic production enterprises, with an average output of about 5 million products per year, with an estimated value of about 400 billion VND per year.

To preserve and develop traditional ceramic brick crafts, combined with tourism development based on exploiting existing traditional ceramic brick kilns, the Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee issued a decision approving the project of “Mang Thit contemporary heritage”.
Accordingly, the entire heritage area of about 3,060 hectares, in the four communes of My An, My Phuoc, Nhon Phu, Hoa Tinh and Mang Thit Districts, have received the investment to preserve ceramic brick kilns. Currently, 364 households have committed to keeping 653 furnaces.
The Vinh Long red ceramic art street will open until September 17.
