Upcoming, one of the national sports tournaments that Phu Yen province has been chosen to host is the Tien Phong Marathon and Long Distance National Championship (Tien Phong Marathon National Championship). The tournament will take place at the end of March 2024. At this time, the preparation work of the organizing board and athletes has been very urgent. As for accommodation and transportation, groups are rushing to find and book.

Ms Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, owner of the Moc Mien homestay system, said that, 2 weeks ago, Moc Mien homestay officially signed the order with a running group from Hanoi with friends. The time is 1 week, before, during and after the official tournament date. “After the peak tourism season of the year, we are currently investing and improving tourism products and infrastructure to welcome tourists in the new year, especially the Tien Phong Newspaper marathon event,” Ms Thuy shared.
Mr Ngo Van Dinh, Vice Chairman of Phu Yen Tourism Association, said: Currently, hotels in Tuy Hoa city have been contacted by travel agencies and running groups to book and retain rooms.
According to Mr Le Hoang Phu, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the 65th Tien Phong Newspaper Marathon National Championship - 2024, is expected to welcome more than 10,000 people present in Phu Yen province at the same time. Currently, the organizing board has been urgently making preparations. Regarding accommodation, based on the number of athletes and tourists forecast at the event, the existing accommodation infrastructure in the province will ensure accommodation needs. “The entire province has currently had about 7,400 rooms that meet accommodation standards, of which more than 600 rooms meet 3-star to 5-star standards. With the forecast number of guests and the current number of rooms, the locality basically meets the accommodation needs of guests. Furthermore, from now until the time of the tournament, there will be new accommodation facilities coming into operation. In case of greater demand, the organizers also have backup plans”, said Mr Le Hoang Phu.
In the past, sports tourism was mainly for Western tourists. Recently, the trend of green living and sports activities has spread strongly to Vietnamese tourists. Surveys by the Vietnam Tourism Development Research Institute show that the trend of sports tourism is the choice of many Vietnamese tourists. Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Yen, Mr Le Hoang Phu added: In the recent years, Vietnam in general and Phu Yen province in particular have had strong development of clubs and professional and movement sports tournaments, such as: jogging, cycling, mountain climbing, martial arts, swimming, yoga, etc. Among them, jogging attracts a large number of participants.
