This spring, grab a chance to immerse in the beautiful and lively nature at Nui Chua Biosphere Reserve, explore the picture of biodiversity of forest and sea with rare animals and plants that will definitely leave in each person valuable and forgettable experiences.
Explore the beautiful and lively nature
Nui Chua Biosphere Reserve located in the north-east of Ninh Thuan Province, with a very rich and diverse ecosystem, which is a destination for scientists to study and visitors to explore and enjoy the fresh climate of unspoiled nature.
Considered as the place with the severest weather in Vietnam with hot and sunny weather all year round, Nui Chua Biosphere Reserve forms an unique ecosystem, the only standard model of the typical and unique dry forest ecosystem of Vietnam and South-east Asia. With a total area of over 106,646 hectares, this place converges all three spaces of forest, sea and semi-desert. According to the latest survey, there are 1,511 species of plants in Nui Chua Biosphere Reserve currently, of which 54 species are recorded in the Vietnam Red Data Book and the World IUCN Red List. The fauna is also diverse with 765 species, of which 46 are rare and precious species listed in the Vietnam Red Data Book and the World IUCN Red List. In addition, there is a rich coral reef with 350 species in the sea area of Nui Chua and an annual population of sea turtles that are being strictly protected. This whole area contains the cultural treasures of the rich and unique Raglai community.
Nui Chua Biosphere Reserve
Currently, Nui Chua Biosphere Reserve is promoting the development of eco-tourism such as sea tourism, forest tourism, scientific research tourism, environmental education tourism and sightseeing, … with each corresponding itinerary to suitable discovery points.
If visitors choose the Bai Hom - Rai Cave route, the eco-friendly tram ride will take visitors over 3km of the forest road in the campus of Nui Chua National Park to Bai Hom, where there is a pristine beach, whitey sand and crystal clear blue sea. Rai Cave with thousands of years of coral reef complex with a convex, undulating surface with many interesting shapes as the surface of Mars. Every time the waves hit the rocky slopes, the bounced backs create “waterfalls on the sea” that make everyone bewildered at the very first time of arrival.
In case visitors prefer a further route, visitors can choose the journey to explore Stone Park - 5 - floor Waterfall. Coming to the Stone Park is an extremely fascinating experience, stone slabs through millions of years, being eroded by the sun and wind, forming countless strange shapes, satisfying the imagination of visitors. Looking down from Stone Park is Bai Thit, where sea turtles choose to lay their eggs. Zooming out into the distance is the vast sea with winding sand dunes, hugging the foot of the mountain. White sand, golden sunshine make up a special beauty landscape. Keep walking through the forest, the 5-floor Waterfall appears majestically. The waterfall with a height of more than 100m falls from the top of the mountain to the cliff. In the 4th cascade, there is a natural-made lake bed. Visitors can take a dip in the cool lake lying precariously in the middle of the mountain, or hang in a hammock to listen to the soothing sound of the waterfall to dispel the fatigue of the journey.
Camping at Nui Chua Biosphere Reserve
Vinh Hy Bay - a scenic spot ranked as a national relic is also a favourite place for many people in the journey to explore Nui Chua Biosphere Reserve. A side facing the sea, the other three are white sand beaches and mountains with steep cliffs surrounding it, creating a charming complex, making Vinh Hy almost separate from the flow of urbanisation to keep its wild beauty. When the night falls, having a walk along the shore to enjoy the fresh sea breeze and admire Vinh Hy Bay from afar, visitors will see undulating bright lights from the fishing boats, shimmering and fanciful. Visitors can follow the small boat moored in the bay to catch squids. Visitors can also visit the Raglai ethnic people living on the slopes of Nui Chua to have fun, dance around the fire and enjoy the typical traditional alcohol called Can wine in the wild but poetic landscape, etc. The forest of Vinh Hy Bay is quiet and peaceful, leaving visitors with many unforgettable emotions and impressions.
Unique afforestation tourism
On the spring trip to explore Nui Chua Biosphere Reserve, visitors will find excitement in self-creating and planting “seed bombs” for future green trees and aspiring to regenerate forests, contributing to the conservation of biodiversity in the places wherever the foot has been set.
The “seed bomb” is a clay pellet containing foresy tree seeds inside. A size is as small as a fist, the “seed bomb” is easily carried by tourists and scattered in the areas according to instruction by staff of Nui Chua National Park. When it rains, the seeds inside the “bomb” will sprout and grow according to the principles of nature.
The Raglai ethnic people have extra income thanks to the job of carrying luggage to help visitors conquer the top of Nui Chua with an altitude of over 1,000m.
According to the estimation of the Director of Nui Chua National Park, Mr. Tran Van Tiep, each year, Nui Chua National Park welcomes about 100,000 visitors. If each visitor comes here and successfully scatters germinated “seed bomb”, there will be 100,000 forest trees growing in Nui Chua National Park.
Mr. Tiep added: The biggest benefit in spreading the “seed bomb” is not only the number of green sprouts that are regenerated, but thereby raise the awareness of every student, young person and visitor about protecting the ecological environment. Therefore, we have turned the “seed bomb” programmes into tourism products for many people to experience and contribute to the improvement of the environment.
