(TITC) - On 3rd March, at Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street, District 1, took place the Opening Ceremony of the 9th Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival 2023. Mr. Doan Van Viet, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST), Mr. Nguyen Le Phuc, Vice Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and leader of the Travel Department (under VNAT) attended the event.

The 9th Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival 2023 is organised by Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism and the City Women's Union, with the theme “I love Vietnamese Ao Dai”.
Ao Dai is one of the typical costumes, associated with the life and cultural activities of Vietnamese people for generations. The Ao Dai Festival contributes in preserving and promoting the unique traditional cultural values of the nation, which is the love of the city people for the Vietnamese Ao Dai.

During the Opening ceremony, 21 collections of Ao Dai by famous designers showed up with the themes: Ao Dai in the heart of the City, Ao Dai integrating with the world, Ao Dai - The quintessence of a thousand years, Vietnam brocade fabric…

Addressed at the Opening Ceremony, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Duong Anh Duc said, along with the country's socio-economic development, Vietnam has gradually participated in several international activities, the image of the Ao Dai became familiar and became one of the symbols of Vietnam in the hearts of worldwide friends. Not only being the symbol of the beauty of the Vietnamese people, the Ao Dai is also reminiscent of a beautiful, friendly and gentle Vietnam; reminding of a destination imbued with identity in the hearts of international visitors. The power of the inner of Ao Dai is an endless source of inspiration for designers, writers and artists across the country to create together more attractive Ao Dai Festivals, which are always expected by people and visitors every March.

Mr. Duong Anh Duc emphasised that, the 9th Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival 2023 was invested in terms of scale and innovation in content and form in order to express the strong desire for restoration and readiness to accelerate the development of the City in the new period.

After the Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival 2023, the city's tourism industry plans to organise the promotion of the Ao Dai Festival at the ITB Asia 2023 in Singapore in October 2023 with the goal of promoting the city's unique cultural tourism events to international markets and buyers in the direction of building the Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival into a cultural tourism event of international stature and thereby contributing to attracting and developing international tourist markets to Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general.

Ao Dai Festival is held throughout March with many interesting activities such as: Ao Dai art show, Ao dai parade programme, Exhibition space honouring Ao Dai, Ao Dai art path, Ao Dai Charming Contest; Ao Dai drawing contest, Ao Dai online contest… promising to offer the people of the city and visitors an outpouring emotion, unique and unforgettable experience.
