Thousands of Da Nang people, officers and soldiers from the city-based armed forces, workers, Youth Union members, women, veterans and students participated in activities in an active response to World Environment Day (June 5), Viet Nam Sea and Islands Week (June 1 to June 8), and Action Month for the Environment (June 1 to August 30).

The participants cleaned up the environment, remove weeds, collect garbage, plant and take care of trees along roads and at public places and monuments and remove stagnant water, a breeding ground for mosquitoes, to prevent dengue fever.
The People's Committee of Hai Chau 2 Ward, Hai Chau District organised an environmental festival, a programme to swap recyclable waste for gifts at 10 stalls of cosmetics, stationery, food and spices stalls, a contest programme to make products from recyclable waste for the sake of environmental protection and waste sorting at source.
In a similar vein, the People's Committee of Thach Thang Ward, Hai Chau District organised a contest to learn more knowledge about building environmentally friendly wards and the Law on Environmental Protection, especially competition for decorating stalls displaying products and exchanging recyclable waste for gifts.
These stalls will continue to be "re-used" regularly in the coming time in residential areas, schools to promote the movement of sorting waste at source, limiting the use of plastic waste.
Locals and public servants in Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District planted trees and grew vegetables at vacant land plots to both serve the needs of the people and ensure environmental sanitation.
Hoa An Ward, Cam Le District implemented a market model to reduce plastic waste with the exchange of recyclable waste for paper shopping bags.
The Cam Le District authorities awarded tools for waste sorting at source to units, organised exhibitions of paintings and photos on biodiversity, set up booths displaying products made from recyclable waste, and launched an initiative programme to reduce plastic waste.
