A series of art performances and cultural activities will be held in Da Nang and the ancient town of Hoi An in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relation between Japan and Viet Nam on August 26-28.

In Da Nang, the Princess Anio Executive Committee (Brain Group, Yamaha Music Viet Nam Company, and the Association of International Exchange), in cooperation with the Viet National Symphony Orchestra and Mikazuki Group, will announce the production and premiere of a new opera Princess Anio in a press conference at Da Nang Mikazuki Japanese Resort&Spa on August 27.
The project committee will debut the performance of ‘Aria dan bau’ (Vietnamese monochord musical instrument) from Act III of the opera Princess Anio.

Lacquer paintings of Japanese artist Ando Saeko will be shown at the event, along with an aizu nuri lacquerware decorated piano, as well as a display of cultural features, music and arts of Viet Nam and Japan, including the Palanquin of Nikko Toshogu, which will be introduced at Da Nang Mikazuki Japanese Resort&Spa on August 27.

An inauguration of a Japan Culture House will be taken at the Viet Nam-Japan Cultural Space at No 6 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street in Hoi An on August 26.
The house displays Japanese culture and arts, including Japanese green tea making, ceramics, kimonos, origami, cosplay costume, Japanese dolls from Nagasaki, Sakai, Matsusaka and a pavilion of the former Japanese ambassador to Viet Nam Sugi Ryotaro who made contributions to building the Japanese-Vietnamese relationship.

Local people and authorities of Hoi An still preserve three tombs of Japanese traders who died in Hoi An in the 17th century in Cam Chau Commune.
Tani Yajirobei is believed to have died in 1647, and his records include the oldest and clearest information related to his life, including a love affair with a local woman. His tomb is the most visited among Japanese visitors.
