(TITC) - On 15th June, at Ha Noi, the Tourism Information Technology Center - TITC (Vietnam National Administration of Tourism - VNAT) coordinated with Google to organise a program to introduce digital platform of Google Arts & Culture. VNAT’s Vice Chairman Nguyen Le Phuc attended and spoke at the event.

This was the hybrid event in Ha Noi with more than 30 bridge points from provincial tourism management departments, tourism promotion information centres, relic sites, heritage sites, museums, tourist sites, and tourism training institutions.
Speaking to start the event, VNAT’s Vice Chairman Nguyen Le Phuc said, Google Arts & Culture is considered as the “digital museum” of the world, where it keeps and introduces cultural values, unique arts of all the nations in the world. At the beginning of 2021, VNAT and Google coordinated for the first time to held the launching project “Google Arts & Culture - Wonders of Vietnam” on the platform of Google Arts & Culture with 35 online exhibitions and 1,369 photos about famous tourism destinations, heritages, Vietnam's natural landscape, culture and cuisine.
Overview of the event
VNAT’s Vice Chairman Nguyen Le Phuc emphasised, digital transformation is an strategic orientation of Vietnam’s tourism industry. To restore the tourism in the new context, VNAT has been implementing many solutions to innovate tourism operation towards safe adaptation, flexibility, and sustainable development. In which, digital transformation in tourism promotion plays an important role to provide information, reconnect markets, promote tourism brand and attract international visitors to Vietnam.
Google Arts & Culture is trusted to be a open door to bring outstanding cultural and tourism values of Vietnam to the world, Mr. Phuc suggested localities, areas and tourist sites participating in today's event actively absorb, capture information, research and accelerate the promotion of local tourism images and brands on this unique digital platform.

Mr. Pierre Caessa, representative of Google Arts & Culture shared his thought: “Google Arts & Culture - Wonders of Vietnam'' is one of the many efforts of Google to support Vietnam promoting tourism. We are glad to know that the project left an impressive imprint and somehow had positive effects to both domestic and international communities after over one year of launching. Digitising resources to approach worldwide visitors is one of the vital tasks to accelerate tourism, especially in the post COVID context. Therefore, it is such an honour for us to accompany VNAT in supporting tourism departments, management boards of tourist sites across Vietnam through this program”.
At the event, Mr. Pierre Caessa showed the delegates general information related to the digital platform Google Arts & Culture, unique values that this platform can offer through the coordination of more than 2,000 reputed museums in 80 countries globally, along with more than 6 million workpieces and 20,000 online exhibitions. Modern technology has supported to create over 10,000 interesting tours for Google Arts & Culture users.
Some essential technologies that Google Arts & Culture offered in its platform including Art Camera, which can create photos with a resolution of more than 1,000 megapixels; Museum View feature to design 360 degree online sightseeing experience; Tabletop scanner feature to digitise cultural heritages into a huge collection and archive. By different ways and methods, from the app running on a website platform, smart phone, search engine, content creation on Youtube, etc. cultures and people are more closely connected online.

The participating delegates further admired actual products from the project “Google Arts & Culture - Wonders of Vietnam” on Google Arts & Culture platform, created by VNAT, Google and other related units in 2021.
Attending the event, representatives of museums, heritage and relic sites highly praised the digital platform Google Arts & Culture. Mr. Le Xuan Kieu, Director of the Centre of Science and Culture Activities of the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam (Ha Noi) said, digital transformation is a key task of the Centre. Recently, the Centre has implemented solutions to improve the efficiency of the management function as well as raise the quality in serving visitors. Mr. Kieu hopes to have a broader look to the Google Arts & Culture platform to apply it practically to the relic, offer unique cultural and historical values of the relic to domestic and international visitors.

Ms. Tran Thi Huong, Deputy Director of Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum stated, recently, the museum has implemented technology applications to improve visitors’ experience, in which the iMuseum VFA app is a highlight and other digital solutions to improve the efficiency of management and storage. Ms. Huong highly praised Google Arts & Culture and thought this is an effective tool to introduce and promote museum artefacts.

Delegates hope to receive the support from VNAT, TITC and Google to have a detailed view for the implementation and usage instruction of the platform to soon apply practically. At the event, Google’s officials and experts also exchanged and answered the opinions of the participants and shared about their readiness to accompany units in the tourism industry to promote Vietnam tourism on Google Arts & Culture platform.
Mr. Hoang Quoc Hoa, Deputy Director of TITC said: “As the focal point institution of VNAT to implement the communication and digital transformation in tourism field, TITC will continue to closely coordinate with Google and other related units to implement supportive solutions to localities, businesses and tourist attractions in digital transformation and promoting tourism nationally and internationally via digital platforms”. Mr. Hoa informed that in the third quarter of 2022, TITC and Google will coordinate to research and organise a detailed training program for units interested in the Google Arts & Culture digital platform.
