The Southern Fruit Festival 2010 officially opened on June 1st and will take place during the three summer months. The organizing board for the festival said nearly 1,000 tonnes of fruits are expected to be sold around 20-40% cheaper than at an outside market.

Co Thach Pagoda in Binh Thanh Commune, Tuy Phong District, Binh Thuan Province is a national relic that lies in a cave 64 meters above the nearby sea and Ca Duoc Beach. This is actually a complex of pagoda, small temples and small valleys covering over four hectares. The pagoda’s sanctum, mediation areas, worship hall and bell tower are surrounded by caves and seasoned trees. Each cave is dedicated to a Buddhist deity.

460 bln VND earmarked for marine reserves

Vietnam will put aside 460 billion VND (roughly 24 million USD) to develop marine protected areas (MPA) from 2011 to 2020. Under a plan, which was recently approved by the Prime Minister, Vietnam will set up 16 MPAs during the first phase, lasting from 2011 to 2015, to the tune of 300 billion VND.
