Ancient shan tuyet tea trees in Sung Do commune, Van Chan district of the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai have been recognised as Vietnam’s heritage trees by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE).
National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu attended the opening of the “Through the legacy of Hoang Su Phi terraced fields” culture week that was opened in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang on September 21.
The 2019 Muong Lo Tourism-Culture Week and the Mu Cang Chai Terraced Field Festival kicked off on September 20 in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai, featuring a chain of exciting activities.
The annual ‘Le hoi Thanh Tuyen’ (Tuyen Quang City Festival), which is also known as Tuyen Quang Mid-Autumn Festival, officially took place at the city’s Nguyen Tat Thanh Square, in the province of the same name on September 13.
A complex of temples and tombs dedicated to Do Cong Tuong and his wife in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap was recognized as a national relic site by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism in early July.
Vang A Khua, a man from a Mong ethnic minority group in Moi village, Suoi Giang commune, Yen Bai province, was born into a family from six generations of producing the ancient Shan Tuyet tea by traditional manual methods.
"Ca tru (ceremonial singing) is very difficult, only those who love it and perseveres can follow this career. However, our club now gathers nearly 30 members”, Dang Thi Chan, former head of the Ca tru Club of Yen Dung district, Bac Giang province, excitedly told us.
The Tay and Nung ethnic people in Bac Giang province live mainly in the districts of Son Dong, Luc Ngan, Luc Nam, Yen The, Tan Yen and Lang Giang. In their spiritual life, they own a rich treasure of folk arts such as proverbs, chants, parallel sentences, poetic stories and myths... Especially, in addition to the heritage of Then singing and Tinh gourd lute, the Tay and Nung people have ‘sli’ and ‘luon’ songs bearing their own identity, attracting listeners.
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Quan ho (love duet singing) and Ca tru (ceremonial singing) recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritages of humanity, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just held a scientific conference on "Preserving and promoting Quan ho and Ca tru in Bac Giang province”.
Numerous activities will take place in central Quang Nam province to celebrate the 20th anniversary of UNESCO’s recognition of the ancient town of Hoi An and My Son Sanctuary as world heritage sites, the 10th anniversary of UNESCO’s recognition of Cu Lao Cham as a world biosphere reserve.
