Update: 21/12/2022
Countdown events held in order to mark the start of 2023 will be organised in downtown Ho Chi Minh City and Hoi An City on December 31, according to plans recently unveiled by local authorities.

The event is scheduled to take place at two venues, including Nguyen Hue pedestrian street and Le Duan Boulevard in Ho Chi Minh City from 5:30 p.m. on December 31 to 0:30 a.m. on January 1, 2023.

It will feature a series of laser shows, LED and other attractive lighting, art performances, games, and a goods fair. Indeed, the highlight of this occasion will be a countdown party held at midnight in order to welcome in the New Year.

The countdown event was first organized six years ago and typically attracts thousands of visitors annually. It took place virtually in 2020 and was subsequently cancelled in 2021 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Elsewhere, the ancient city of Hoi An will host a series of cultural performances and art celebrations for the New Year between December 28 and January 8, 2023.

A market on recycling waste into materials friendly to the environment, art performances, and fashion shows will take place at An Hoi Sculpture Park.

Moreover, the central city will hold a ceremony aimed at welcoming the first international tourists to visit the Old Quarter at 9 a.m. on January 1, 2023.
