(TITC) – According to GSO, in March 2023, the number of international visitors to Vietnam reached 895.4 thousand arrivals, down 4% compared to the previous month, but increases by 2.8% over to the January. In the first quarter, Vietnam welcomed 2.7 million international visitor arrivals, 29.7 times higher than the same period in 2022.

South Korea continues to be the largest source market in the first 3 months of 2023 with 811 thousand visitor arrivals, followed by the United States (207 thousand). Thailand ranked 3rd with 145,000 arrivals. China saw the rise to 4th place (140 thousand arrivals).
In the top ten markets, Northeast Asia has 4 markets including South Korea, Taiwan, Japan and China. Southeast Asia has 3 including Thailand, Malaysia and Cambodia. Australia ranks the eighth and India is 10th.

In March, the main growth from Chinese market after the country reopened group tours to Vietnam from 15th March. The number visitors from this market reached 69.3 thousand arrivals in March, up 26% compared to the previous month, which showed the recovery signal from the Chinese market.
Besides, some markets continued to grow well such as: Japan (+28.5%), Singapore (+36.8%), Malaysia (+23%), Indonesia (+17%), Thailand (+13.5%). Important markets in Europe still maintained slight growth: Germany (13.3%), France (+9%), UK (+2%). Some markets that fell were: US (-15%), Korea (-17%), Cambodia (-28%), Taiwan (-29%)…

Notably, in March, international arrivals by sea reached 20.7 thousand arrivals, 2.8 times higher than the number of visitors in February. Although the number of visitors was not large, the growth was very significant.
Recently, many international cruises stopped at ports in Nha Trang, Da Nang, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City, and Ha Long (Quang Ninh Province) with most tourists from Europe and Asia.
