On December 6, 11 years since UNESCO officially recognized the Hung King Worship in Phu Tho as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity (December 6th 2012 - December 6th 2023).
According to statistics from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, up to now, the whole country has nearly 1,500 places with relics worshiping Hung Kings and famous generals of the Hung King period, Phu Tho province has 345 relics. These relics all simultaneously held the Hung Kings’ Commemoration on the 10th date of the 3rd lunar month in a solemn and respectful manner.
Every year, Phu Tho province pays special attention and directs the development and implementation of the national action program on preserving and promoting the heritage that the Vietnamese Government has committed to UNESCO to ensure the sustainability of the heritage which has been honored.
Over the past 11 years, the Hung King Worship has truly become the first Vietnamese belief that the Vietnamese community voluntarily practices from the people’s faith and absolute respect for their Ancestors, and is a spiritual cultural symbol of the roots of the Vietnamese people, preserving, spreading and promoting great cultural values in the work of building and developing the country.
