Going green

Update: 07/06/2012
Da Nang has planned to build a green economy in order to develop as an environmentally-friendly city.

From 2008 to 2010, great efforts were made in environmental and urban planning in preparation for green economic development.

In the second stage, from 2011 to 2015, focus is on waste water treatment at IPs, processing zones and residential areas and developing waste recycling industries. Measures will be taken to control air pollution from vehicles, IPs and residential areas, expand green urban spaces, and conserve biodiversity in the city’s forests.

These projects will be funded by the city budget, domestic and foreign organizations, NGOs and ODA.

A number of low carbon emission projects have already been carried out and 75% of the city now has a clean reticulated water supply. The city authorities are encouraging classification of waste at home, keeping the streets clean and reducing the consumption of plastic bags.
