As a gesture of their commitment to the threat of global warming, hotels in town will be turning off their lights to mark Earth Hour 2013 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The Caravelle Hotel, the Hotel Equatorial HCMC, the InterContinental Asiana Saigon, the Legend Hotel Saigon, the Sheraton Saigon Hotel & Towers and the Sheraton Nha Trang are encouraging their staff and guests to join the mission.
Devised by the World Wildlife Fund, Earth Hour spans 7,000 cities and 152 countries with a digital reach of 200 million. This year’s theme is “Uniting People to Protect the Planet.”
Last year, Earth Hour broke records to cement itself as the largest voluntary action for the environment. Iconic buildings and landmarks from Asia Pacific to Europe and Africa to the Americas as well as the hundreds of millions of ordinary citizens will switch off to show their solidarity.
