As a result of the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union First World 132, forum of IPU’s Young Parliamentarians took place. This is the chance to take the views of the youth in the process and outcome of the 132 IPU Assembly.
One of the two themes commented by Young Parliamentarians is “Shaping the new mechanism on water resources management: promoting parliamentary action on water.”
Vietnam Young parliamentary delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh provided solutions to effectively manage water resources. He emphasized that the parliament of countries need adjust laws and policies on water resources management; expand and promote international cooperation in sharing and increasing transnational potential of water, as well as promoting dialogue between the parliaments to create an international guideline for water resources management and raise the awareness of the community in the use water resources sparingly and efficiently.
Ahead of the 132 IPU, Mr. Ha Huy Thong, deputy chairman of the Committee on International Relations, Subcommittee’s chairman on contents of the 132 IPU Organizing Committee said that the IPU has never had a resolution on water. For that reason, Vietnam has proposed this topic. If adopted, this is probably the first time IPU pass a resolution on water.
