Director of Lang Sen Wetland Reserve in the Mekong Delta Province of Long An Truong Thanh Son said that the reserve has been recognized as the seventh Ramsar Site in Viet Nam and the 2,227th in the world.

It is scheduled that the Province People's Committee will organize a ceremony to receive certificate of recognition of Lang Sen Wetland Reserve as the seventh Ramsar Site in the country and the 2,227th in the world on November 27.
The park was established in 2004. Covering a total area of 4,800 hectare, Lang Sen National Park has a system of swamps, grass plots and natural canals; accordingly, currently, the park is an ideal habitat for around 60,000 animals and plants including156 species of plants, and approximately149 species of water birds including around 25,000 storks. Some of these birds are listed in Viet Nam and the world's Red Book of rare and threatened species. Lately, more rare birds have come to spot in the park
The other Ramsar sites in the country are the Xuan Thuy Natural Wetland Reserve in the northern province of Nam Dinh, the Bau Sau (Crocodile Lake) Wetlands, Con Dao National Park in the southern province of Ba Ria- Vung Tau, Ca Mau National Park in the Mekong Delta Province of Ca Mau, Seasonal Flood Plains in Cat Tien National Park in the southern province of Dong Nai, Tram Chim National Park in the Mekong Delta Province of Dong Thap and Ba Be National Park in the northern province of Bac Kan.
