The opening ceremony took place in a vibrant atmosphere with songs and dances honouring the beauty of Ha Noi’s people as well as traditional values of the ancient capital.
The highlight of the programme is installations on ancient streets in Ha Noi’s Old Quarter including Hang Dao, Hang Gai, Hang Dong, Hang Khay, Hang Trong, Lan Ong, Bat Dan and Cau Go.
Familiar scenes from the daily lives of Hanoians are being reproduced at the installation exhibitions. Visitors will also have a chance to learn more about Ha Noi’s crafts through the skillful techniques of artisans from trade streets.
An exhibition, themed ‘Memory of ancient Ha Noi’, displays a wide variety of photos featuring the beauty of the land and people of the capital.
Hanoians will have an opportunity to rekindle their memories as they see installations of electric trains and pedicabs, as well as enjoy Ha Noi’s traditional cuisines and join a market introducing ancient objects.
In addition, visitors can experience folk games and participate in making traditional toys such as masks and locusts from green leaves.
Numerous other cultural and arts activities, including xam (ballads once sung by wandering blind musicians) and ca tru (ceremonial singing), street music and calligraphy demonstration, will also be held during the six-day programme.
The programme ‘Memory of Ha Noi’ is considered a unique tourism product, contributing to introducing Ha Noi’s traditional cultural identities to both domestic visitors and international friends.
