Quang Nam, strategically located at the intersection of national transportation networks, has strong tourism potential. However, development has mainly focused on the eastern coastal and heritage sites, leaving the western region, rich in cultural diversity, largely untapped.
Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee, Phan Thai Binh, introduced the new tourism route as a blend of architecture, history, and culture. Spanning nearly 100 km, this three-destination journey highlights the province’s stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage. The initiative aims to boost tourism in western Quang Nam and diversify visitor experiences.
In addition to the UNESCO-listed Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary, Dong Giang Heaven’s Gate offers unique attractions, including Vietnam’s highest concentration of natural waterfalls, the Dong Giang cable car, and the Ngoc Rong glass bridge.
The provincial government has approved an unsubsidised intercity bus service from Hoi An to Dong Giang to support the route. Operated by Hang Gop Ecotourism Company, the route will shorten travel time and enhance accessibility.
Quang Nam has identified tourism as a key economic driver in its development plan through 2050. In 2024, the province welcomed over 8 million visitors, including 5.5 million international tourists.
Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet urged businesses to develop high-quality tourism services and strengthen regional and international cooperation.
Various agreements and recognitions were also announced at the conference, including a green tourism certification for Dong Giang.
