Many opinions on the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage values and the enhancement of the role of H'mong women have been given in a scientific workshop themed "Mong ethnic cultural identity and the role of women in tourism and socio-economic development in Ha Giang”.
Assoc. Prof, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong, Director of the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Art Studies spoke at the workshop.
The workshop was held at the H'Mong Village Resort, in the Trang Kim area of Dong Ha Commune, Quan Ba District, Ha Giang Province, on March 17.
The event features the participation of nearly 70 delegates from central agencies, units, departments and sectors in Ha Giang Province; research institutes, non-governmental organisations, and enterprises inside and outside the province; and central and local news agencies and press.
The delegates contributed ideas at 2 main discussion sessions: "Protecting and promoting the cultural identity of the Mong ethnic group in tourism development" and "The role of H'mong women in tourism and socio-economic development in Ha Giang”.
In recent times, the Mong people, especially the Mong women with their unique cultural identity, have made great efforts in promoting these strengths and resources to develop tourism and other fields of the social and economic life. In the districts of Dong Van and Quan Ba in Ha Giang Province, the Mong people have successfully developed a number of tourism models based on the exploitation of traditional cultural values. The status of women in the family has become more equal than before.
However, the above results are not many. On the other hand, after a period of exploiting cultural heritage values, and at the same time operating the community-based tourism model, many shortcomings have begun to appear that need to be thoroughly reviewed.

Researcher Nguyen Manh Tien said that, in the family, the family line of the Mong people, patriarchy is a basic and dominant factor, but besides that, women also have a certain role. From there, the author wishes that managers will create suitable jobs so that the industriousness and dynamism of women can contribute positively to the socio-economic development in the locality where they live.
With a different perspective, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong and Dr. Vu Dieu Trung, highlighted the role of women through studying the process of growing flax and weaving of the Mong people in Lung Tam, Quan Ba District, Ha Giang Province.
From a management perspective, Trieu Thi Tinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Giang Province, offered comprehensive solutions on institutions, construction, planning and policy making on the field of conservation of cultural heritage flexibly and effectively in accordance with the reality of each ethnic group and each locality.
Notably, the study "Attracting foreign direct investment to develop Ha Giang Province" by Dr. Pham Hung Tien attracted the attention of many delegates. With many years of experience working with international projects, the author has pointed out that, regarding the FDI sector, Ha Giang expects to have a generation of foreign investment that is quality and friendly to the environment and community.
On the basis of the contributions of scientists and managers in the locality where the Mong people live, managers and researchers believe that this will be the first step of the progress of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage - the driving force for socio-economic development in the land rich in identity - and at the same time enhancing the position of H'mong women in this period, period 2022-2030.
