More than 300 photos, documents, paintings, porcelain vases, and ceramic works illustrating President Ho Chi Minh’s attachment towards the capital Hanoi are being displayed at an exhibition which is taking place at the art space of Bat Trang Ceramic JSC in Bat Trang Village, Gia Lam District, Hanoi.

Themed ‘Soul of the Earth’, the exhibition was jointly held by Ho Chi Minh Museum, in coordination with Bat Trang Ceramic JSC and the Vietnam Fine Arts Association on the 70th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - 2024) and the 65th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's visit to Bat Trang Village (1959-2024).
Speaking at the opening ceremony on October 8, Dr Vu Manh Ha, Director of the Ho Chi Minh Museum, reminded the participants of President Ho’s visit to Bat Trang 65 years ago.
On February 20, 1959, when the country made every effort to build socialism in the North and fight for national reunification, President Ho Chi Minh visited Bat Trang Village to encourage local families and production establishments.
He requested that Bat Trang Village strive to become one of the exemplary villages of the new Vietnam, the socialist Vietnam.
Uncle Ho's teachings are forever a source of motivation for generations of Bat Trang villagers to promote solidarity in building and developing the ‘Bat Trang Pottery’ brand and turn the village into a shining example in building new rural areas in Hanoi and the whole country in general.

The ‘Soul of the Earth’ exhibition was organised to express the boundless love and respect of Bat Trang villagers for Uncle Ho and reaffirm their determination to fulfil the President’s teachings.
The works at the exhibition are produced by Bat Trang artisans, famous painters, and sculptors who are members of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association.
Through the talented hands of craftsmen, painters, sculptors, and artisans, rough clay blocks were breathed into life and had a new appearance as unique works of art.
The exhibition space is arranged in three sections.
The first one, named ‘Uncle Ho’s visit to Bat Trang and collection of porcelain works about President Ho Chi Minh’ introduces photos recalling President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to Bat Trang 65 years ago and a collection of blue-glazed and multi-coloured porcelain works depicting portraits of President Ho Chi Minh in significant historical events, such as a porcelain vase featuring Uncle Ho reading the Declaration of Independence, a porcelain plate on Uncle Ho’s life in Pac Bo, and a porcelain plate illustrating President Ho Chi Minh and children.
The second section displays a collection of porcelain works celebrating the 70th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day.
The collection introduces multi-coloured and blue-glazed porcelain vases and paintings depicting national landscapes and people of Hanoi, such as Long Bien Bridge, The Huc Bridge, One Pillar Pagoda, and Temple of Literature.
The third section showcases ceramic artworks by Vietnam Fine Arts Association members.
Despite following different styles, the artists want to share a common message of peace, national traditions, and love of homeland and country.
The exhibition aims to spread the love for Uncle Ho, for the capital Hanoi and the beloved Fatherland of Bat Trang artisans while honouring the village’s traditional craft of pottery making.
The exhibition will be open to the public until the end of October 2024.
