The Son Tra Peninsula is a primeval forest with a fresh, cool climate all year round. There are more than 500 species of animals, 1,300 species of plants, including the rare red-shanked douc langur. With favourable natural conditions, the Son Tra Peninsula is increasingly attracting many visitors. However, relevant agencies need to determine the construction of quality tourism products to explore the Son Tra nature, strictly manage tours and routes to protect and conserve natural resources and wildlife life.

Many tours to the Son Tra Peninsula
According to the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches, there are currently 5 tourist routes on the Son Tra Peninsula, with three on land (Yet Kieu - Son Tra peak - Bac beach - But beach; Yet Kieu - Vong Canh house - foot of 621 peak - through the forest - Om beach - Tien Sa and green space route) and two waterway routes (Han River - East of Bac Beach; But Beach - Da Nang Cape). In April 2023, the Management Board coordinated with relevant units to launch an inland waterway tourism route Ben CT15 - Hon Sup - Bai Nam - Bai Da.
With these five routes as mentioned above, visitors can stop to visit such as the Vong Canh house, the old helicopter airport, Ban Co (Chessboard) peak, paragliding point, Son Tra heritage banyan tree and the waterway tourism route along the foot of the Son Tra Peninsula...
Since 2009, typical tour programmes of the Son Tra Peninsula have been put into operation including: circling the Son Tra Peninsula, going up the forest and down to the sea, exploring green space (trekking), diving to see coral, a day of acting as a fisherman, observing the Queen of Primates (red-shanked douc langur).
According to the Mr. Bui Van Tuan, the CEO of HIVOOC Company Limited, the Son Tra Peninsula is the heart, the bridge, the ideal place for all tourists who love nature. Coming to Viet Nam, and Da Nang in particular, many tourists cannot miss the Son Tra Peninsula, where the ‘Queen of Colours’ red-shanked douc langurs, more than 500 species of animals, 1,300 species of plants and interesting things about natural history are present.
Need to build quality products
According to many opinions, currently there are many nature experience tours on the Son Tra Peninsula, with different forms such as walking experience, motorbike riding around Son Tra, Jeep tour and paragliding. Tourists can easily look up and find tours on social networking platforms, associations and groups.
As reported by Head of the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and the Da Nang Tourism Beaches Nguyen Duc Vu, in 2025, this agency will coordinate with travel agencies to upgrade tour programmes on the Son Tra Peninsula. Specifically, the tour programmes around the peninsula, up the forest and down to the sea will be continuously exploited with their names unchanged. The programme such as exploring green space, a day of acting as a fisherman, observing the Queen of Primates (red-shanked douc langur) will be adjusted to form new tours.
In order to effectively exploit tours to the Son Tra Peninsula for the diversity of Da Nang’s tourism products, Mr. Bui Van Tuan said that it is necessary to clearly identify a high-quality and unique tour products for the content of experiencing and exploring Son Tra's nature as well as widely promote it.
With this type of high-quality tour, it is necessary to have a separate route design and separate departure time to ensure the peace and enjoyment of the space for visitors.
In addition, it is necessary to soon introduce trekking tours to explore wild nature at easy and medium levels, to be able to reach groups of non-professional mountaineers; survey and plan nighttime camping spots/night animal discovery tours for groups of tourists with special needs.
After selecting and identifying the main products for Son Tra, it is necessary to increase promotional activities through international television channels to reach the world market.
“There should be an early policy to collect entrance fees from visitors; require them to commit to complying with regulations on forest protection, environmental protection and wildlife life; implement a campaign to clean every corner of the Son Tra Peninsula to create a tourist area with no waste, no plastic bags, no disposable plastic water bottles. This will be a highlight to attract international visitors.
In addition, it is necessary to open more training courses for tourism and travel agencies in Son Tra on the characteristics of nature reserves and wildlife species and the necessary requirements when organizing tourism in nature reserves in order to reduce the impact of tourism activities on wildlife. Only then can tourism activities in Son Tra be sustainable.”, said Mr. Bui Van Tuan.
