The second US – DPRK summit takes place on the occasion of the 20th anniversary that Hanoi receives the title "City for Peace". This is an opportunity for the city to promote itself a peace-loving, friendly, long-standing and civilized capital with huge potential for doing business.

A modern capitalOn social media and newspapers over the past few days, Vietnam’s capital has gone viral worldwide. Not only looking for information about the meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, numerous foreigners are also interested in Hanoi - the venue for the meeting.Many international journalists say that Hanoi is an ideal place for the US and North Korea to hold the summit which draws the attention of the whole world. So far, Hanoi is still the only capital in the Asia-Pacific region to be awarded the title "City for Peace" by UNESCO.Over the years, Hanoi is on the rise with amazing growth rate, but still retains its traditional culture. Hanoi has also affirmed its position and created absolute confidence in safety and security by organizing a series of major political and economic events of regional and international scale.Active international integrationIn international cooperation, Hanoi has established friendly cooperative relations with more than 100 capitals, cities of countries and territories around the world. Many international conferences have been held in Hanoi, including the APEC Summit in 2006, most recently the World Economic Forum on ASEAN in September 2018. Those major multilateral events have affirmed the capital’s status.Hanoi has also organized many festivals, international cultural exchange events in the cultural spaces such as Sword Lake, Trinh Cong Son and Phung Hung streets. The events have contributed to promoting tourism development.
