Co-organised by the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches and relevant units, the cleanup campaign aims to respond to the opening programme of the Da Nang Beach Tourism Season held in April every year, and at the same time to promote activities to protect the environment and wild nature on Earth Day (April 22) and World Environment Day (June 5).
Held for the first time in 2011 with about 50 volunteers, the campaign has attracted a large number of volunteers over the past year with the desire to join hands in cleaning and preserving the green colour of the Son Tra Peninsula.
In the morning, participating volunteers picked up trash at the intersection of Le Van Luong, the Green Lake, the Bai Chay tourist site, and a road leading to the Linh Ung Pagoda and Suoi Da tourist site.

This was a series of activities to raise community awareness about environmental protection, mobilise people and tourists to participate in biodiversity conservation and wildlife protection movements on the Son Tra Peninsula, and build and promote the image of green tourism in the Son Tra Peninsula with the message "Son Tra Peninsula - Green Destination".
In addition to cleanups, the organisers of the "Clean up Son Tra - For a Green Son Tra" campaign cooperated with the Viet An Group JSC to plant trees; and worked with the Green Viet Nuoc Biodiversity Conservation Center to organise a photo exhibition themed "Wildlife Protection". The aim was to widely publicising the harmful effects of feeding wild animals, and the role and importance of wild animals to the ecosystem on the Son Tra Peninsula.
