(TITC) - In Tennessee State (USA), the working delegation of Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee (Vietnam) and the US National Caves Association recently held a meeting to discuss bilateral cooperation.
At the meeting, representatives of the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Management Board and the National Caves Association (NCA) discussed and agreed on a bilateral cooperation program.
Accordingly, the two sides will cooperate in the fields of inspecting, measuring, mapping caves, exploring caves, organizing training programs on rescue, scientific research on cave ecosystems, collecting and storing cave database.
Cooperation and exchange programs to learn experiences between the two sides aim to make Quang Binh to be the most attractive destination in Vietnam, the adventure tourism center of Asia.
The two sides will also soon sign a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation aimed at sustainable, long-term cooperation.
Also at the meeting, Ms. Christine Ebrey, President of NCA, pledged to send US cave experts to Vietnam this year to carry out new cave exploration programs, as well as provide consulting to develop adventure tourism models at Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.
Previously, cave experts from NCA reported on the results of cave exploration in the US, Mexico and Vietnam. Associate Professor, Dr. Dean Wiseman gave a presentation reporting on the cave system at Phong Nha - Ke Bang and some information about the potential for scientific research on the cave ecosystem at Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.
Also within the framework of the working trip, the working group of the Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee attended discussion sessions on cave management and conservation, including a technical forum on overcoming and repairing broken stalactites; visiting cave exploration model to serve cave education and skills training.
The cave conference is an activity organized annually by NCA. This year's conference was held in Tennessee State, from July 1 to 5, attracting a large number of domestic and international cave experts.
