(TITC) – On 15 November 2023, in Ha Noi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the conference in hybrid format to discuss the rapid and sustainable development of Vietnam tourism.

The event, the second of its kind this year, connected representatives from many ministries, representatives from the 63 cities and provinces together. The conference also attracted the participation of large tourism and aviation businesses, economic and tourism experts.
In his opening speech, PM Pham Minh Chinh emphasised that the world is witnessing a range of complicated and unpredictable developments. He underlined the importance of taking full advantage of opportunities and overcoming challenges for the tourism industry’s sustainable development moving forward.
Despite global uncertainties, the tourism industry has recorded positive signs since the beginning of the year, receiving approximately 10 million international visitor arrivals and 99 million domestic visitor trips. However, the number of international visitors only reached 69% of the pre-pandemic level in 2019.
In order to achieve the goal of turning tourism into a spearhead economic industry, as well as welcoming at least 35 million international visitor arrivals by 2025 and 50 million by 2030, the tourism industry is required to change its mindset by enhancing smooth co-ordination among travel firms and relevant agencies.
The PM called for breakthrough solutions by researchers and experts to be implemented as a way of removing hurdles to develop the tourism sustainably and rapidly. He also underlined the need to find policies and mobilise all resources to develop tourism infrastructure, train human resources to meet development requirements, and improve the management capacity for travel firms.
At the conference, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung reported on the current status of tourism activities and proposed many solutions to facilitate tourism, support enterprises and tourism business activities.
Many participants proposed solutions to attract visitors and achieve sustainable tourism development, including enhancing regional and sectoral linkages and fostering public-private partnerships to build tourism products and promote tourism.
