Tourism is general economic branch, has reciprocal effect on economic – social branches, fields, including environment. The existence and development of tourism connect closely with environment. Tourism only develops when environment is protected. Pollution of environment in an area will make tourism activities reduce. Therefore Vietnam National Administration of Tourism cares about environment in general and tourism environment in particular. In order to execute the State’s lines and policies on environment protection such as Decree No 80/2006/ND-CP (Detailing and guiding the implementation of a number of articles of the law on environmental protection), Circular No 08/2006/TT-BTNMT (On guiding assessment of strategic environment, environmental impact and environment protection commitment), Decree No 81/2007/ND-CP (Regulating professional organizations and departments on environmental protection in state authorities and state enterprises)… and contribute to environment protection in tourist sites, areas for sustainable tourism development, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism performed some environment protection missions such as:
Launching “Environment protection week” in cities and provinces Surveying, studying and establishing environment protection regulations, applying eco-label to accommodations in Vietnam Building website and CD-Rom on tourism environment protection propaganda Training to improve awareness of tourism environment protection for authorities, inhabitants and tourists in some provinces. Training, improving manageable ability for tourism environment protection Inspecting legal performance in tourism environment protection in some provinces Publishing some documents to improve awareness of tourism environment protection Establishing datas for environment reality assessment in tourism
