Rare slipper orchid found in Quang Tri

A rare slipper orchid, listed in the world’s Red Book as an endangered species, has been found in Huong Son Commune, Huong Hoa District, central Quang Tri Province.The local Forest Ranger Department said the species of orchid, scientifically called paphiopedilum appletoniaum, was discovered at the height of 900m of the Voi Mep Mountain by a group of local bio-diversity researchers. The orchid had earlier been found in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong and the central province of Thua Thien -Hue.
