(TITC) On 20th December, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) officially announced 10 typical cultural, sports and tourism events in 2022, including the reopening of tourism from 15th March 2022, the robust recovery of the domestic tourism, reaching over 100 million visitor arrivals in 2022.

Thereby, 10 typical cultural, sports and tourism events in 2022 include:
1. Implement the conclusion of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Conference on Culture in 2021.2. The National Assembly Passes Law on Cinematography (amended) in 2022.3. The National Assembly passes the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control (amended) in 2022.4. Art of pottery-making of Cham people is inscribed on UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.5. Documentary heritage “Ma Nhai (Inscriptions) on the Marble Mountains, Da Nang City” and “The Sino-Nom Documents in Truong Luu Village, Ha Tinh Province (1689 – 1943)” are inscribed in the List of Documentary Heritage in the Asia-Pacific region.6. Successfully negotiated the repatriation of the Emperor’s golden seal “Hoang de chi bao”.7. The 6th Ha Noi International Film Festival.8. Successfully organising and competing at SEA Games 31.9. The Vietnamese women’s soccer team attends the 2023 World Cup for the first time.10. Vietnam fully opened tourism from 15th March 2022, domestic tourism recovered robustly, reaching over 100 million visitor arrivals in 2022.Regarding the Tourism industry events, on 15th March 2022, Vietnam announced the full reopening of tourism activity in the new normal context, fully opening up all border gates, by land, by sea, by rail, by air; restoration of visa policy (unilateral visa exemption, bilateral visa, e-visa, and visa-on-arrival) and entry and exit policy for international visitors as before the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. No restriction on any tourism activities with domestic tourists. As a result, Vietnam is listed by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as one of the countries with the most open-door policy in the world. Vietnam is also one of the earliest countries to open up in the region.
By far, the Vietnamese Government has created favourable conditions for tourists, including visa exemption for 24 countries and territories; restore entry and exit procedures as before the Covid-19 pandemic; apply e-visa to 80 countries and territories. Vietnam is the first Southeast Asian country to open its doors to tourism and has no barriers to restrict visitors. Vietnam tourism has been well prepared and equipped to ensure serving tourists perfectly, especially the changes of demands post the pandemic. The data from Google Destination Insights shows that Vietnam is gradually on the top of destinations in the world in terms of growth in travel information search.
Domestic tourism activity had a strong recovery, reaching over 100 million visitor arrivals, surpassing all forecasts, increasing by more than one and a half times compared to the set target of 60 million visitor arrivals, far exceeding the figure of 85 million domestic visitor arrivals in 2019 (before the pandemic). This “magical” recovery is considered as a saviour to the whole industry and successfully proved its influential role in the overall development of the tourism industry in the context that international tourism is struggling on a global scale recently.
