The hotel has picturesque and modern beauty of environmental landscape and innovative design.
Originating from the thought of offering best customer services, while ensuring to save energy, improving economic efficiency towards a green model, the hotel implemented many solutions on managing procedures, improving technology…. As a result, Sheraton Hanoi Hotel has been on the list of green hotels in Vietnam and the region.
The idea of an environmentally friendly hotel was realized from the beginning of the construction of the hotel which helped to create sustainable competitiveness for the hotel and responsible tourism. The building faces northeast to minimize direct sunlight and take advantage of being near the lake and surrounded by many trees. Walls were built of two layers and painted light yellow color which has low solar radiation coefficient. Living rooms were equipped with glass windows to utilize solar light and 2-layer curtain to reduce to transmit heat.
The furniture used in the hotel is designed and selected appropriate with energy saving criteria. Lighting system is an important part to create aesthetic beauty of the hotel. Thus, after learning power-saving products on the market, Sheraton Hotel replaced all incandescent bulbs with compact and fluorescent lamps.
Air conditioner system consumes a large amount of electricity. Hanoi has four seasons, however the air conditioners are used mostly in summer, the hotel thus installed inverters to maintain the lowest speed of fans and more accurate temperature.
About water saving, the hotel installed throttles in taps to save water while ensuring suitable water flow. As a result, the hotel saved up to 50% of water consumption.
In the recent years, thanks to the solutions to minimize impacts on environment such as economical use of energy and resource, controlling over waste and water... Sheraton Hanoi Hotel has been able to not only save cost but also develop the image of a green hotel in visitors’ mind. Sheraton Hanoi Hotel also received first prize in the northern region of contest "Energy Efficiency Buildings" 2009 organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
