Online registration for the Son Tra Run Challenge 2023 has just been opened for runners at both home and abroad. The race has been receiving great anticipation from athletes, promising to become an unique sports tourism product in the city.

The sports event is slated to take place on December 24. Co-organised by Son Tra District People’s Committee, and the Viet Nam Television Center in the Central - Highlands Region (VTV8), it is expected to attract about 1,500 runners who are professional athletes, mass athletes and running enthusiasts at both home and abroad.
The race will comprise three races: 6km, 16km and 26.66km runs. The route of the races will be East Sea Park - Vo Nguyen Giap Street - Hoang Sa Street - Green Lake - Bai Nam tourist site - The Border Guard checkpoint at the Bai Bac tourist site - Monkey slope - Ban Co (Chess Board) Peak - Vong Canh Hill - Yet Kieu Street - Tien Sa Resort - Yet Kieu Street - foot of Man Quang Bridge - Le Duc Tho Street - Hoang Sa Street - Vo Nguyen Giap Street - East Sea Park.
According to the Son Tra District People's Committee, the race aims to raise awareness in protecting health, improving the quality of life, building a healthy lifestyle and cultural environment, and promoting the movement of physical and sports training among the masses. It helps build a new and unique tourism product, introducing domestic and international tourists to the beauty of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang beaches.
After the organisers of the race open the online registration at https://bit.ly/dang-ky-VTV8-Son-Tra, many athletes express their excitement.
Mr. Pham Van Hung, a resident of Hai Chau 1 Ward, Hai Chau District, highlighted that running is a good sport for health. Every day, in the early morning and late afternoon, he runs and does exercise along the Han River with his family members.
“In addition, I regularly participate in running events in the city and other localities nationwide to improve my health and experience new lands and routes. Each race leaves me with interesting memories of the land, people, and natural beauty. I have registered to participate in the VTV8 - hosted Son Tra Run Challenge 2023", Mr. Hung added.
Also according to Mr. Hung, compared to other running events, the VTV8 - Son Tra Run Challenge 2023 promises to be exciting and attractive when participating athletes have the opportunity to experience the beauty of coastal roads and explore new and famous tourist spots on the Son Tra Peninsula such as the Linh Ung Pagoda, Son Tra Tinh Vien, Son Tra radar station, Ban Co (Chess Board) Peak and Vong Canh Hill.
According to Mr. Vu The He, Director of the Center for Culture, Information and Sports of Son Tra District, in the current "blooming" trend in the number of running races, the running races are organised carefully, appropriately and safely.
Currently, the organisers are making efforts to prepare for the tournament to be successful and impressive. Professionalising all stages of communication and organisation will ensure that those who love running and exploring, and professional runners, will have the most attractive and interesting experiences, he noted
