In order to contribute to promoting the value of national treasures to the public at home and abroad, on July 31, 2021, the Ministry of Information and Communications will jointly issue a set of stamps named "Vietnam's national treasures: Gold treasures".
The stamp set
Designed by artist Nguyen Du (Vietnam Post Corporation), the stamp set features four Vietnamese treasures made of gold, with a size of 37 x 37 (mm).
The first stamp features the golden royal seal called the "Sac Menh Chi Bao". The seal was transferred to the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945 by the Nguyen dynasty. There have been studies on Vietnamese seals that have determined that the golden royal seal is an original and unique artifact. The "Sac Menh Chi Bao” seal is preserved at the Vietnam National Museum of History.
The second stamp features the golden seal named "Dai Viet Quoc Nguyen Chua Vinh Tran Chi Bao". This is the earliest seal in the history of the Nguyen dynasty. The seal was cast in 1709, during the reign of Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu (1691 - 1725). The golden seal "Dai Viet Quoc Nguyen Chua Vinh Tran Chi Bao" is currently held and preserved at the Vietnam National Museum of History.
The third stamp features the Ngoa Van - Yen Tu gold box. The golden lotus-flower-shaped box of the Ngoa Van Pagoda on Yen Tu Mountain, dating back to the 14th century, with its sophisticated decorations, is held and preserved at the Quang Ninh Museum.
The final stamp of the set features a box containing sarira (Buddhist relics) in Thap Nhan relic. Dating from the 7th – 8th century, the national treasure is held and preserved at the Nghe An Museum. The entire box is made of pure gold and is delicately carved.
The stamp set will be available on the postal network from July 31, 2021 to June 30, 2023.
Earlier, in 2018, four Vietnamese treasures made of bronze also featured in a stamp set designed by Tran The Vinh and released by the Ministry of Information and Communications.
