At the meeting, delegates discussed on draft resolution on Promoting inclusive digital ASEAN to empower MSMEs and strengthen the ASEAN economic integration and draft resolution on The post – COVID-19 economic recovery: Tourism cooperation in ASEAN.
At the session, Vietnam delegation called upon AIPA Member Parliaments to promote legislation and policies towards harmonization for ASEAN economic integration, which prioritize connectivity, especially sub-region and remote area connectivity, regional integration and narrowing the development gap among AMS in coordination to capture the opportunities of the fourth industrial revolution and achieve integration in catalyst sectors for overall ASEAN economic integration.
Strongly advice the exploration of potential partnerships among ASEAN Member States and AIPA Member Parliaments to promote excellence, innovation and productivity;share best practice of supporting MSMEs digital transformation, gather and share data on best examples of digital platforms and MSMEs’ successful digital transformation in the area; to facilitate and enhance market access and internationalization of MSMEs; as well as to promote entrepreneurship and human capital development towards a thriving economic environment in ASEAN.

Comment on second draft revolution on post – COVID-19 economic recovery: Tourism cooperation in ASEAN, Vietnam call uponAIPA Member Parliaments to closely engaged in the ASEAN post-pandemic recovery plans for the regional resilience and development as well as urge the Governments of ASEAN Member States to urgently implement the Action Plan for the ASEAN Vaccine Security and Self-Resilience, the ASEAN Regional Reserve of Medical Supplies and the ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework.
Support ASEAN tourism vision 2025 which aimed to bea quality tourism destination, responsible tourism, committed to balanced tourism development and sustainable tourism for the socio-economic well-being of ASEAN people after the situation of COVID-19.
Encourage tourism travel bubbles, by specializing routes to tourism sites in member countries.People traveling from and to different destinations are tested to make sure they are not infected with the novel coronavirus and go straight to the safe zones.
Emphasizing that countries work together to build a foundation for long-term tourism recovery and be ready to respond to crises, ASEAN needs to focus resources to support the tourism sector during the crisis period due to the impact of the pandemic.
In addition, it is necessary to carry out an assessment of major risks that may affect the tourism sector such as pandemic, natural disasters, extreme weather, terrorism, political instability...; continue to interact with boards, departments and stakeholders to increase awareness and understanding of tourism's linkages with other sectors; promote the establishment of tourism recovery funds at the national level.

After discussion, AIPA Member Parliaments passed two resolutions. These will be submitted at the second plenum of the AIPA-42 General Assembly.
The 42nd AIPA General Assembly, themed “Forging Parliamentary Cooperation in Digital Inclusion towards ASEAN Community 2025”, is taking place via videoconference from August 23 to 25 under the chair of Brunei.
