(TITC) - Within the framework of Ba Be Tourism and Cultural Heritage Week in 2022, on 4th June, in Ba Be District, the People’s Committee of Ba Be District organised the conference on tourism development promotion of Ba Be . VNAT’s Vice Chairman Pham Van Thuy attended and spoke at the conference.

Ms. Ma Thi Cu - Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ba Be District said, Ba Be is a mountainous district that has diverse, rich and unique tourism resources. Ba Be Lake is the famous landmark located in Ba Be National Park. It is also one of the most beautiful and largest tectonic lakes in Vietnam, one of the 20 special natural freshwater lakes in the world needed to be protected, with natural scenery, and a primitive forest system on limestone mountains.
Ba Be Lake has a large area of more than 500 hectares, pristine nature, in addition to beautiful landscapes such as: Hua Ma Cave, Tham Phay Cave, Puong Cave, Dau Dang Waterfall, Tien (Fairy) Pond, ecotourism sites such as Lung Chang, Phieng Phang; historical, cultural-spiritual relics and rich sources of culinary culture, agricultural and forestry products… All are the potentials to develop tourism, improve people’s lives, enrich people’s morales, contribute to socio-economic development, and at the same time promote the development of other economic sectors.
With favourable conditions to develop tourism, Ba Be Lake tourist area has been aimed to become a national tourist area.
In the past few years, Ba Be District tourism has developed gradually and achieved a number of remarkable results, tourism products have become diversified, and visitors arriving to Ba Be Lake increase every year. In 2015, there were nearly 50,000 visitor arrivals; in 2019, the total number of visitor arrivals reached 85,300. Conservation and promotion of traditional values are put on point. Those factors have contributed to the growth and development of Ba Be District in particular and Bac Kan Province in general.
However, Ba Be has not taken full advantage of its potential to develop tourism. It is feasible due to the shortage of sources, lack of intensive investment to develop tourism; tourism products are monotonous, tourist accommodations have not been fully provided in quality and quantity; tourism human resources are immature, nevertheless; the infrastructure is below qualified.

According to tourist businesses, Ba Be holds a massive potential to develop tourism, especially ecotourism. In order to develop to its actual level, Ba Be needs a practical plan, restoring traditional villages, developing tours, putting extra investment into local typical tourism products, etc.
Highly appreciated the efforts that Ba Be made in developing tourism, Mr. Pham Van Thuy, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Administration of Tourism emphasised, the cultural heritage of Ba Be is indeed to uphold and become resources for the tourism development. Ba Be needs to track a way to turn its cultural values to attractive tourism products. Building entertainment spots, typical culinary products of Northeast Region and Ba Be, at the same time, focusing on developing green products, spiritual tourism, adventure tourism – the strength of Ba Be; enhancing promoting tourism.
VNAT’s Vice Chairman Pham Van Thuy stated, it is necessary for Bac Kan Province to train qualified human resources in tourism field, building policy and strategy to attract investors to Ba Be, and tourism destination management.
Mr. Pham Duy Hung – Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Bac Kan Province appreciated suggestions and advice from delegates. He suggested Ba Be District makes intense efforts on reinvesting essential infrastructure to serve visitors and needs to have further consultation to develop suitable tours within the Ba Be area.
