A population of 56 Việt Nam conifer trees and 5 phay sừng (Duabanga grandiflora) trees in Pù Hoạt Nature Conservation Centre in central Nghệ An province were recognised as Việt Nam Heritage Trees by the Việt Nam Assocation for Conservation of Nature and Environment on Monday.

In the certificate granting event, the Việt Nam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment asked Pù Hoạt Nature Conservation Centre and relevant agencies to care for and protect the trees. Lying in the western Nghệ An Biosphere Reserves, Pù Hoạt centre has thousands of rare and valuable animals and trees. Vietnamese conifer trees are famous for their soft, durable scented wood and are a genus of one or two species of evergreen coniferous trees of the cypress family. They are native to northern Viet Nam, China, Taiwan and Laos.
