A workshop themed “Solutions to promote the development of health-related tourism” was held in Ha Noi on June 11 with the participation of nearly 200 representatives from travel and healthcare service companies, tour guides, experts and scientists.

The event aimed to gather multi-dimensional perspectives for building traditional medicine tours to serve tourists.
In his opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr Dau Xuan Canh, Chairman of the Vietnam Orientally Traditional Medicine Association, affirmed that healthcare and beauty are two factors receiving great attention and care from all people. With high efficiency in treatment and side effects, health care with oriental medicine products of natural origins is very popular.
Therefore, sharing ideas to create connections among the experts in the fields of medicine and tourism is very necessary and important, contributing to forming traditional medicine tourism products in Vietnam.

The Global Wellness Institute forecasted that the growth of the healthcare tourism industry in the 2020-2025 period could reach 21%, surpassing all other areas of the healthcare sector.
Possessing a long-standing and effective traditional medicine, with many precious indigenous herbs, Vietnam has many advantages to developing healthcare tourism, especially traditional medicine tourism products.

At the workshop, the participants discussed many related contents to develop traditional medicine tourism products in Vietnam, such as the trend of medical transformation in tourism; the trend of healthcare from herbs and traditional medicine therapies without using drugs; respiratory health care through "forest therapy"; and the linkages among the units to form healthcare tours.
