Vietnam’s Sea and Island Cultural Heritage opened in Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan)

The opening ceremony of the exhibition on "Vietnam's sea and island cultural heritages " was officially held on the evening of August 27, 2023, in Phan Thiet City, as a part of activities within the framework of the Visit Vietnam Year 2023.

Attending the opening ceremony, there were Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Ms. Bo Thi Xuan Linh, Chairman of the Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Vo Thanh Binh, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Dang Chuong, Director of Vietnam Art and Culture Exhibition Center (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism); leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches; representatives of the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism in a number of provinces and cities across the country.

The exhibition " Vietnam's sea and island cultural heritages " is organized by the Vietnam Art and Culture Exhibition Center (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in collaboration with the People's Committees of the provinces and cities: Hai Phong, Bac Giang, Vinh Phuc, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Kien Giang, Tien Giang, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu and Ca Mau.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Director of the Vietnam Art and Culture Exhibition Center Nguyen Dang Chuong said: “The exhibition is a cultural event to introduce and honor unique cultural and tourism values of Vietnam’s seas and islands and the people to international friends. This is also a chance for us to raise awareness, national pride, and responsibility of the community in the management, conservation, and promotion of historical values, natural resources, and cultural environment of sea and island tourism, contributing to the sustainable development of the country as well as the protection of the homeland's sovereignty over the sea and islands. Through the exhibition, the authorities expect locals and visitors would understand more about the cultural heritage of Vietnam's sea and islands, which are an important part of the cultural heritage treasure of mankind; then arouse more love for the motherland, uphold the responsibility of the community and each individual in preserving cultural heritage values and protecting Vietnam's sovereignty over seas and islands in the integration period.

According to the organization board, the exhibition includes a public display area, themed “Vietnam's sea and island cultural heritages” with 270 pictures and specimens depicting the overview of Vietnam’s sea and islands. Of which, the public display area is divided into 4 tenors including documents, specimens on Vietnamese culture of marine and islands in history; Building and protecting Vietnam's sovereignty over seas and islands; artistic photo exhibition on Vietnam’s sea and islands; and Vietnamese Youth with motherland sea and islands.

Within the framework of the exhibition, there is also a space to display "Colors of cultural heritage, sea and islands" of provinces and cities. Specifically, 22 provinces and cities participating in this exhibition will bring their typical cultural colors, heritages, nature, landscapes, residents' daily life activities associated with the sea and islands of each locality, and tourist destinations to the event. At the same time, It offers chances for localities and businesses to introduce and promote tourism potential, ecotourism products, and sustainable sea tourism associated with the value of local cultural heritage.

In addition, special traditional folk art programs introducing various types of intangible cultural heritage, and street art performances, to help residents and visitors better understand the beauty of each region will also take place at the same time.
