Conquering Long Lanh Pass

Update: 18/01/2024
Long Lanh Pass, which has many other names such as Hon Giao, Bidoup and Omega, is located entirely in Da Chais Commune (Lac Duong District, Lam Dong Province). Each name has its meaning associated with mountains, humans, or unique and rare beauty.

The story goes that in the past, a group surveyed the road connecting the flower city of Da Lat (in Lam Dong Province) with the coastal city of Nha Trang (in Khanh Hoa Province). From the vast dark forests, after sleeping in tents, they woke up in the morning and saw dew drops in the morning sunlight, more beautiful than many other places. They called it "Long Lanh (glittering) road".

Long Lanh Pass is 30 km long through the Lang Biang Mountain range and Bidoup National Park. Da Chais Commune, where the pass "creeps" through, has a large area of 341.04 square kilometres, nearly half the area of Bac Ninh Province (823.1 square kilometres). The commune is also adjacent to three provinces, Ninh Thuan, Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak.

The Commune has a large area and few people, so the air is fresh. There are many types of precious woods here, but the most typical tree is agarwood. For many people who used to find agarwood, they are not unfamiliar with the forests here. If you can meet them, they will reveal a few secrets, such as listening to birds at night and following the sound of birds singing to find the areas with agarwood the next day.

Among the passes to reach Da Lat, each section is an impressive destination. Going through this pass by motorbike, travellers are certainly impressed at the poetic beauty of the winding mountains and forests.

It is a rare thing for someone to see mist covering vast mountains and hills. It is also not easy to capture the moment of witnessing a sunrise or sunset, while there are still dew drops lingering on the trees. It is also difficult to enjoy the moments when the soul is freed from the cramped urban conditions and replaced by pure void. Therefore, let us try conquering Long Lanh Pass to get precious, exciting and irreplaceable experiences.
