Specifically, the ecological park and square south of the Nam O rapids are located nearby the Da Nang Bay at the end of Nguyen Tat Thanh Street.

Of which, the natural forest area remains in its current state of more than 3.2ha, the ecological park is over 1.8ha wide and the square is about 0.25ha wide.

The Nam O rapids ecological park will have a maximum construction density of 2.78%. It will feature a walking route around the rapids, along with such open spaces as viewing, yoga and check-in decks, service facilities and utilities for tourists' sightseeing. The square is equipped with public amenities such as rest huts and restrooms to serve visitors.

It is known that the park and square will create a buffer zone to protect the Nam O rapids, combined with organising public space to serve the community.

Mr. Huynh Anh Vu, Vice Chairman of the Lien Chieu District People's Committee, said that the approval to build the ecological park and square south of the Nam O rapids not only created living space for the community and developed local cultural identity but also made the district a new, attractive tourist destination in the Da Nang tourism map.

According to Mr. Vu, Lien Chieu District is focusing on developing infrastructure and tourism products based on existing potentials and advantages. Notably, the planning of the ecological park and square is part of the development strategy for the northwest region according to the city's general orientation and planning in the future.

During the project implementation process, the district will make every effort to ensure sustainable exploitation works, and the harmony between the socio-economic development goals and ecological environment conservation.

Aside from the approval for the detailed planning project of the ecological park and square south of the Nam O rapids with an investment capital of nearly VND50 billion, the municipal People’s Committee has assigned the district-level authorities to urgently coordinate with the developers of the Nam O Heritage project to complete important items, connect with parks, squares and snack streets in service of residents and tourists.

Mr. Tran Ngoc Vinh, Chairman of the Nam O Fish Sauce Craft Village Association, hoped that once completed, the square and ecological park project will contribute to promoting local tourism services, thereby opening up more opportunities for the Nam O fish sauce craft village to expand its consumption market.

According to Mr. Vinh, Nam O is a locality rich in traditional culture, beliefs, craft villages and primeval forest resources. He, therefore, stressed the need that the development of the area must be based on existing advantages, avoiding negative impacts on the landscape, environment and natural forest at the Mom Hac (also known as Phung Island).

Sharing the same opinion, Mr. Dang Dung, who is considered the "historian" of the Nam O village, said that the Mom Hac has been the pride of villagers over the past time.

In the past, Mom Hac is called the sacred land where five mountains namely Ba Vien, Ba Na, Hai Van, Phuoc Tuong and Son Tra accumulate spiritual energy to become a prosperous and precious land. Of which, the Nam O rapids are shaped like a phoenix with a blue crane snout emerging from the golden sand, spreading its wings in the morning sunlight before flying out to the ocean.

In addition, the Princess Huyen Tran Temple located on the high ground of the Mom Hac is a spiritual cultural address of particular importance in the history of formation and development of the Nam O land.

“With iconic thinking, and religious and spiritual values, we are very proud of Mom Hac and hope that the locality during the project construction process will respect the abovementioned natural values, cultural history and tradition" Mr. Dung said.
